Moses 7:13

13 And so great was the faith of Enoch that he led the people of God, and their enemies came to battle against them;

and he spake the word of the Lord, and the earth trembled,

and the mountains fled,

even according to his command; and the rivers of water were turned out of their course;

and the roar of the lions was heard out of the wilderness;

and all nations feared greatly, so powerful was the word of Enoch, and so great was the power of the language which God had given him.

    14 There also came up a land out of the depth of the sea,
Moses 7:14

    18 And the Lord called his people Zion, because they were of one heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.

I bear testimony that when we feel weak, or when we feel that we can't do what the Lord has asked us to do,  or when we have difficult problems, that He will help us.  -- Sister Dorsey

Enoch showed us what to do in those situations.

  •    He prayed for help.
  •    He had faith that the Lord would help him, and his weaknesses became strengths.
  •    He was obedient.
  •    He worked hard.
  •    He had compassion for others.   Moses 7:41, 44
Enoch saw what would happen to his own city:
 18 And the Lord called his people aZion, because they were of bone heart and one mind, and dwelt in righteousness; and there was no poor among them.
 19 And Enoch continued his preaching in righteousness unto the people of God. And it came to pass in his days, that he built a city that was called the City of Holiness, even Zion.

Moses 7:47 and 7:62  mention Zion. "and through cfaith I am in the bosom of the Father, and behold, dZion is with me."

 What is Zion?
  •          Zion means The Pure In Heart.
  •          Enoch was pure in heart.
  •       The people he taught who obeyed God and came with him built a whole city of people who were pure in heart.
Clean, Pure, Righteous, Loving, Unselfish, Obedient, Honest

 19 And Enoch continued his preaching in righteousness unto the people of God. And it came to pass in his days, that he built a city that was called the City of Holiness, even Zion.
 20 And it came to pass that Enoch talked with the Lord; and he said unto the Lord: Surely aZion shall dwell in safety forever. But the Lord said unto Enoch: Zion have I blessed, but the bresidue of the people have I cursed.
 21 And it came to pass that the Lord showed unto Enoch all the inhabitants of the earth; and he beheld, and lo,aZion, in process of time, was btaken up into heaven. And the Lord said unto Enoch: Behold mine abode forever.

Zion, in process of time, was taken up into heaven.

And the Lord said unto Enoch: Behold mine abode forever.

How could the people of the City of Enoch have been taken up into Heaven?
When people are translated, their bodies are changed so they will not experience pain and will “never taste of death” (3 Nephi 28:7).

At the time of the Second Coming they will “be changed in the twinkling of an eye from mortality to immortality (3 Nephi 28:8).

         The Lord showed Enoch a vision of all that would happen in the world.  He saw all of the people,

7: 41   . . . wherefore Enoch knew, and looked upon their wickedness, and their misery, and wept and stretched forth his arms, and his bheart swelled wide as eternity; and his bowels yearned; and all eternity shook.

 44 And as Enoch saw this, he had abitterness of soul, and wept over his brethren, and said unto the heavens: I will refuse to be bcomforted; but the Lord said unto Enoch: Lift up your heart, and be glad; and look.
What could Enoch have seen that would make him glad?

Enoch saw his great-grandson Noah, that a few righteous people would be saved from the flood.

Moses 7: 47 And behold, Enoch asaw the day of the coming of the Son of Man, even in the flesh; and his soul rejoiced, saying: The Righteous is lifted up, and the bLamb is slain from the foundation of the world; and through cfaith I am in the bosom of the Father, and behold, dZion is with me.

Enoch saw the Restoration of the Gospel.

Moses 7: 62 And righteousness will I send down out of heaven; and truth will I send forth out of the earth, to bear testimony of mine Only Begotten;

. . . and righteousness and truth will I cause to sweep the earth as with a flood, to dgather out mine elect from the four quarters of the earth, unto a place which I shall prepare, an Holy City, that my people may gird up their loins, and be looking forth for the time of my coming; for there shall be my tabernacle, and it shall be called eZion, a fNew Jerusalem.

 63 And the Lord said unto Enoch: Then shalt thou and all thy acity meet them there, and we will breceive them into our bosom, and they shall see us; and we will fall upon their necks, and they shall fall upon our necks, and we will kiss each other;
 64 And there shall be mine abode, and it shall be Zion, which shall come forth out of all the creations which I have made; and for the space of a athousand years the earth shall crest.

  1. Play the Steps Toward Zion Game:
  2. Have the children name things they can do each day that will help them become more pure in heart. Have them name things that will take away that purity. (Help them think of more positive than negative things.) Write their ideas on slips of paper and put them in a container. Designate the front of the classroom as “Zion,” and have the children stand side by side in a row facing “Zion.” Pull a slip of paper out of the container, read what is written on it, and have the children move forward one step if the idea will help them become pure or move back one step if the idea would influence them to become unrighteous. Keep reading ideas until the children reach “Zion.”
Things that will help you become more pure in heart
Things that will take away that purity
Studying the scriptures
Listening to hymns, primary songs, and other good music
Thinking about Jesus
Attending our church meetings
Helping others
Using clean language
Avoiding bad things in the media
Praying

Listening to the wrong kind of music
Using unclean language – swearing and using other insulting and disrespectful language
Being unkind to others
Disobeying parents and Heavenly Father
Skipping church meetings (without a good reason)

If they need a few more steps to get to Zion, have them name things from the 13th Article of Faith that we can be and do to become Zion people.

1.    We believe in being
honest,
true,
chaste,
benevolent,
virtuous, and in
doing good to all men; indeed, we may say that we follow the admonition of Paul-
We believe all things,
we hope all things,
we have endured many things, and
hope to be able to endure all things.
If there is [we seek after ] anything virtuous,
[we seek after anything] lovely,
or [we seek after anything] of good report
or [we seek after anything] praiseworthy,
we seek after these things.

This Article of Faith is also about the things that Enoch learned:

10 We believe in the literal gathering of Israel and in the restoration of the Ten Tribes; that Zion (the New Jerusalem) will be built upon the American continent; that Christ will reign personally upon the earth; and, that the earth will be renewed and receive its paradisiacal glory.
